Penile Infection

Infections of the penis can occur on the surface (skin) of the penis or in the urinary tract (urethra). It is important to note that not all Penile Infection are sexually transmitted, and Dr Tan will advise you accordingly if your partner should be treated to prevent re-infection.

Infections can have symptoms such as:

  1. Rashes
  2. Ulcers
  3. Itch
  4. Pain or discomfort passing urine
  5. Discharge from the penis

Tests that are performed include:

  1. Physical examination
  2. Skin swab tests
  3. Urine tests
  4. Blood tests

Common sexually and non-sexually transmitted infections include:

  1. Chlamydia
  2. Herpes
  3. Gonorrhea
  4. Syphilis
  5. Staphylococcus
  6. Candida
  7. Streptococcus
