Peyronie Disease is a common medical condition in which a hard plaque forms in the penis and eventually leads to an abnormal curvature of the penis.

Peyronie Disease occurs in 2 phases:

Hot phase – This is often identified by pain in the penis, especially upon erection and lasts from a few months to up to a year.

Cold phase – The pain resolves during this phase, and a hard lump called a plaque forms in the penis which causes it to bend.

Several treatments are available for treating Peyronie Disease:

During the hot phase, anti-inflammatory medicines and ESWT can reduce the pain and control the inflammation.

Penile curvature can be treated with various treatments including:

  1. ESWT
  2. PRP injections
  3. Calcium Channel Blockers
  4. Surgery to straighten the penis will be recommended if medical treatment is not effective.

Peyronie Disease is commonly mistaken with Congenital Curvature of the penis. However, this is identifiable by the lack of plague in Congenital Curvature of the penis.
